A fantastic opportunity has arisen at a construction consultancy in Exeter who is looking to add a Senior Surveyor to their team.

The successful applicant will be a self-starter and feel comfortable working unsupervised and with good diary management. You will be joining a team who are supportive and ambitious for the company and each other, the leadership is great and the future plans are very exciting. You would be joining the business at a brilliant time to see the next few years of growth.

This role gives you the chance to take full responsibility for project delivery and for you to add your own flair and personality to the role of Senior Surveyor. It would be beneficial if you had housing experience with a sound understanding of JCT contracts and D&B projects. You will be predominately client facing so a good manner and excellent communication skills are vital.

You will be working predominately on JCT / D&B schemes,  preparing cost estimates, assessing contractors application for payment, cost reporting, chairing meetings, liaising directly with the client.

The main roles and responsibilities would be: preparing and presenting cost estimates, recording and tracking cost trends, carrying out a “Project Management” role to ensure that the schemes progress properly both pre and post-contract, preparing tender documentation and producing tender reports and ensuring that all documentation is in place to go to contract.

In addition, you will be expected to, take responsibility for monitoring Contractors performance in respect of time, quality, adherence to standards and cost, chair progress meetings both pre and post contract, prepare valuations, organise proper documentation and report costs to the client to manage the completion of the final account.

The role will suit someone who is commercially astute.

You will have an opportunity, as a senior member of the team, to generate income and leads to support the future growth of the business. It would be expected that you would also take on mentoring of the junior members of the surveying team to support their development.
