This large construction contractor is looking to boost its commercial team with the addition of 2 Quantity Surveyors. Ideally, they are looking for experienced Quantity Surveyors but as they have a very busy few years ahead of planned works, they are also considering graduates. 

To be successful in the role you need to be able to display the following skills and attributes: 

  • Effective commercial control of subcontract packages 
  • Production of accurate documentation 
  • Excellent time management 
  • Liaison with the Commercial Director and Managing Surveyor to ensure everyone is informed of the progress 
  • Analysis and negotiation of contracts and tenders 
  • Ensuring that payments/notices are issued 
  • Identify any threats to commercial business and put in place a clear plan to deal with them 
  • Attend site and office meetings to cascade all required information to those involved 
  • Procurement of sub-traders and suppliers in a cost-effective manner 
  • Production of project final accounts 

It would be useful to have a surveying degree or equivalent qualification and have some experience working in a similar environment. If you had construction design / build knowledge that would be an advantage. Excellent communication skills are essential for this role as is a commercial outlook.
